Project Corus
Project Corus is a project realized by company Translast IJmond. BCE Container Services B.V. in collaboration with Corus and Translast has designed, drawn and calculated 20 FT 19 frames for trailers for the transport of tools on the Corus site.

Stress Calculation Report of the
BCE Container services B.V. Frame A
Loading of the frame A
The frame is subjected to the gravity of the tool A which is equal 24 000 kg. So the
loading force is: F= 24 000 . 9,81 = 235,44 kN. The force has been applied on the red faces as
shown bellow. Also gravity of the frame has been taken into account.

Results and evaluation
Frame A displacement
The maximum displacement of the frame (0,077 mm) is located in the point marked by
sign MX, see figure bellow.
Distribution of HMH stress
The distribution of HMH stress is shown in the figures bellow. The maximum stress is
equal 76,1 MPa.

Evaluation
The highest displacement is equal 0,077 mm. The highest HMH stress is equal 76,1
MPa. So the safety factor is
n = σY / σHMH max = 250 / 76,1 = 3,2.
Several simplifying assumption has been taken into account, see the chapter
Assumptions.
